The Soundtrack

Music can be an important part of filmmaking. Usually I would not bother for such short episodes, but after some experimentation, I found that it added considerable emotional impact for certain scenes. For soundtrack junkies (such as myself), here's virtually every minute of music from the series. Granted, many of the tracks are simply stock pads, but that does not diminish their effectiveness; other tracks were composed and mixed specifically for the show.

The End Theme

True story: I often wake up from sleep or a nap with music playing in my head. more often than not, I like hat's playing. The problem is, holding onto the tune is like herding cats: virtually impossible. within minutes, even seconds, of waking up, the tune starts to fall apart, and by the time I have my musicmaking software up and running, there's virtually nothing left of the wonderful sounds that were there just minutes earlier.

Nearing the end of production on Felini I awoke from a nap with lush, dreamy tune, and I became a man obsessed: I struggled mightily to hold every last note in my head as I fired up the music software. This time I opened a file containing a tune vaguely similar to what I was hearing, so I gave myself a head start on capturing lightning in a bottle. Now, I won't swear it's note-for-note identical to my "dream tune," but it is close enough to be satisfying. And with a rough outline of the tune sketched out, I began to refine and polish it.

TO my amazement, what I ended up with was the end theme for Felini At Sea. Originally I'd chosen an excerpt from one of the tunes in my collection. It would have been fine, except that this new "dream tune" was a thousand percent better. So much so that I fond myself sobbing on and off all afternoon.

The only thing I didn't like about it? It was only a minute and a half long. So I made a longer, "stand alone" version. And then I got the bright idea of turning it into a song, with lyrics. I have at my disposal a woman with a lovely voice who may one day lend it to "Anything More." We will see; numerous technical hurdle to overcome before that can happen. Check back again laer to see if it happened.

Meanwhile, please enjoy the extended version of Felini's end theme.
