6.3. Relay Cabinet and Battery Box

The crossing signal naturally required a relay cabinet and battery box.

The battery box was fabricated from various pieces of styrene, carefully sanded to shape, plus a few bits of brass wire.

The battery box was a piece of styrene tube capped with a part punched from thin sheet styrene with a paper punch. The lid received an N Scale etched brass lift ring with a piece of fine copper wire threaded through for the tie-down.

The footing for both of them was an assembly of styrene bits carved to shape.

I excavated a hole in the layout for the footing, then installed the painted relay cabinet and batter box on the footing, along with a conduit between them.
