Deadpool
It's violent. It's filthy. And it's hysterical. It succeeds by breaking almost every rule, the biggest one being the fourth wall. There's even a fourth wall reference within a fourth wall reference—so meta. It ranks up there as possibly my favorite superhero film—which seems so wrong. Incidentally, Deadpool is technically part of the X-Men franchise. But I decided he deserves his own thread, just like Logan. Sue me. #Driveby. DKS 12/17/17

Deadpool 2
I confess, I was very much looking forward to more of the same. Trouble is, sometimes more of the same is too much. It had its moments, and certainly wasn't bad, but somewhere along the line it meandered off course. Can't exactly put my thumb on it. Too many characters? A sappy moral (yes, really)? Don't know. If you watch it and figure it out, let me know. DKS 7/3/20

Deadpool & Wolverine
Sorry, DP fans, but this one was a whopper of a letdown, made bigger by all of the hopeful-looking hype. For starters, I am sick to death of films that use the multiverse crutch. Unless you live to hobble through two hours of utter nonsense, that is. I also felt the lewdness factor was needlessly cranked up well past 12 on a scale of 10, and that the bloodletting rivaled that of 300. But worst of all was the utter glut of Easter Eggs and inside jokes. Fans of this film would need to memorize almost every Marvel comic ever published, as well as every superhero film ever made, and even then you'll still probably miss a bunch. Ask me if I care. Only worthwhile moment: female baddie runs her fingers (literally) through the face of the male baddie. That image will keep you up at night. DKS 1/12/25
